I recently discovered Pico Iyer's book "Video Night in Kathmandu - and other reports from the not-so-far East" which, beginning on page 39 and under the title "On Prospero's Isle", has one of the most evocative write-ups on Bali in the late 1980s.
Of course, I have ordered the book immediately even though I have already read the full article on www.archive.org.
Not being a fan of online reading and with the lettering so small, I have blown up the pages and reloaded them onto this webpage for your and my enjoyment.
